When the job requires cold storage

I recently had the opportunity to photograph another impressive project completed by Mainbrace, showcasing the scale and complexity of modern industrial construction.

Located within the existing Toll warehouse at Kemps Creek, the project involved the installation of a substantial cold storage facility designed to support temperature-controlled logistics operations. A key feature of the development is the construction of a large refrigeration (2000 square metres) chamber housing multiple warehouse storage units that have been assembled within the insulated environment, all hanging off a portal frame built inside the existing warehouse.

The project highlights the precision and coordination required to deliver specialised cold storage infrastructure while integrating seamlessly into an operational warehouse setting. From the vast internal spaces to the intricate construction details, it was fascinating to capture the transformation of the facility and document the craftsmanship involved.

These images provide a glimpse into the scale of the installation and the expertise required to create a modern cold storage environment capable of supporting today’s demanding supply chain and logistics requirements.

Applying for that first job – Frankie’s first professional head shot

It was a real pleasure recently to photograph Frankie as she prepares to complete her university degree and take her first steps into the professional workforce.

This was Frankie’s first professional headshot session, designed to create a strong image for LinkedIn, job applications, and professional networking. In today’s competitive job market, a professional photograph is often a first introduction and can help communicate confidence, credibility, and professionalism.

Frankie was a natural in front of the camera, and it was wonderful to capture her enthusiasm, intelligence, and optimism for the future. The resulting images reflect a young professional ready to embrace new opportunities and begin an exciting career journey.

I wish Frankie every success as she transitions from university life into the workforce and am delighted to have helped her make a great first impression.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch should you be looking to get a great head shot. I would love to work with you. (John’s mb: 0419619161)

Sydney Cabaret at Ginger’s

Every now and then, an event comes along that reminds us just how much extraordinary talent exists in Australia. For me, one of those highlights is being involved with the Sydney Cabaret, produced by Chris Archer of Archery Productions, a passionate advocate for live performance and Australian entertainers.

Pictured: various guests having a great time during pauses in the performances

Held every couple of months at Ginger’s, nestled within Sydney’s iconic Oxford Hotel, the Sydney Cabaret Initiative has become a welcoming showcase for some of Australia’s finest performers. From accomplished vocalists to emerging artists, the evenings celebrate the richness, diversity and sheer quality of Australian entertainment talent.

On stage the four amazing artist on the night: Stefanie Caccamo, Keane Sheppard-Fletcher, Eliza Soriano, Teo Persechino

My role is a little different from those on stage. While the performers captivate audiences with song, storytelling and charisma, I have the privilege of documenting the event through photography. It is a role I thoroughly enjoy because it allows me to capture the energy, emotion and artistry that make each cabaret evening unique.

Stephen Kramer (Musical Director, and also composer/writer of the Australian musical, Phar Lap)

One of the most rewarding aspects of photographing these events is witnessing the connection between performer and audience. Whether it’s a heartfelt ballad, a witty cabaret number or a show-stopping finale, with long-held notes and large hand gestures. Through my photographs, I aim to tell the story of each performance and create a lasting visual record of these special nights.

Chris Archer deserves enormous credit for creating an environment where performers can shine and audiences can discover new talent. The Sydney Cabaret Initiative is more than just an entertainment event; it is a celebration of Australia’s vibrant performing arts community. It provides artists with a respected platform while giving audiences an intimate and memorable live music experience…a win, win situation.

I look forward to continuing my involvement and documenting many more unforgettable performances. If you love live music, cabaret and the incredible depth of Australian talent, a night at Ginger’s for the Sydney Cabaret is an experience well worth having. Jewels and hats photographed in Melbourne

Once again Adrian Dickens of Circa AD Jewels commissioned me to travel to Melbourne to photograph final images for his 2026 catalogue.

We were fortunate to have Carmen model for us again. Her grace and beauty works so well with the unique pieces from Circa AD and the striking hats from Louis McDonald, the well-known Melbourne milliner. Once again it was a great team and a joy to work with these amazing human beings.
