The Preparation, 2012 -
Pigment inkjet on cotton rag, 71cm x 93cm AP (Edition of 9, 2AP)Finalist in the Moran Prize, 2012 This portrait is about anticipation. The relationship between me, as the photographer and Rocco, as the model is already set in motion. There is a knowing glance from Rocco. She interests me because she is purposely ambiguous and she appears to be confrontational. The hairstylist, Nikki Russell and the make-up artist, Glitta Supernova are applying the finishing touches to a look which intentionally walks the line between masculine, feminine and something else. Rocco is confident and secure.
